The Boys of Ballyduff
Just a mile or thereabouts,

From the lordly Shannon mouth,

There's a spot to which none other I'd compare;

It's a village, not a town,

Though her sons have gained renown,

For the Boys from Ballyduff are always there.

The Founding of Ballyduff Ladies Football Club

In 1991 Margaret Lawlor Slattery, holder of 10 All-Ireland medals, along with others interested in Ladies Football set up the Ballyduff Ladies Football Club. Success came soon after with a victory in the County U-12 Championship in the same year. On their way to the final Ballyduff defeated Austin Stacks and Kenmare. In the final they defeated Currow on a scoreline of 0-6 to 0-5 in a closely fought contest. They were trained on the day by the aforementioned Margaret Lawlor Slattery.
